Meet Miracle (Mira) !
Miracle (aka Mira) is a woman of mystery! A charming Sheltie mix, she's a stray who landed in the West Valley (kill) shelter infirmary. Trembling, terrified of people, under the weather, and out of public view, her chances of adoption were basically zero. I saw her there while she was still on "Medical Hold" and thought she was close to her last days. I couldn't bear for her to die in a shelter, so I arranged to pick her up the next day when she became adoptable. I figured she'd spend a brief time in hospice at my home. Surprise, surprise! Lo and behold, when I picked her up the next day, she exited the shelter at a cheerful trot, looking healthy as a horse! I rushed her to the vet and her bloodwork was fine...and she's never been sick a moment since! LOL She truly IS a Miracle. The vets (she's seen two) both think she's about ten, so she is a senior, though seems a very fit one.  Mira was fearful when she arrived and cowered when approached. Now, however, she is much friendlier and relishes a good cuddle. She's a very sweet, quirky, unique dog. She loves to be petted and gives great kisses. She is an escape artist -- tries to slip out the door constantly, though not necessarily to run away -- and an athlete (I found her atop the washing machine once!). She sleeps unless there's an opportunity to go on a walk, at which time she leaps like a porpoise and runs through my legs. She loves a nice stroll around the block. She is a dear creature and a great original who deserves a loving home of her own. She must always be walked on a chain-link collar as she can slip easily out of harnesses and other collars, and she needs high and very secure fencing, or an apartment situation. (I think she'd be fine in an apartment.) She likes other dogs and is submissive. She's a good eater who likes just about everything. She has been spayed, has received a dental, and has had a food allergy test done, so she is good to go!
