MEET RILEY!
AS OF MARCH 2014 - Riley is a "furever foster" here at Sheltie Rescue Alternative, as he takes a variety of medications daily, including prescription eye drops (Prednisolone, Latanoprost, and Dorzalamide) five times a day to stave off glaucoma. He's doing great and is fluffier and happier than ever. He just celebrated his 16th birthday on Valentine's Day. Happy Sweet Sixteen, Riley! While not precisely a Sheltie, Riley is much adored and is considered to be the Founding Dog of the new Riley Breed LOL.

AS OF FEBRUARY 2013 - Riley is an adorable Sheltie mix new in rescue. He is blind. He has a lovely disposition and a delightful, Tootsie-roll-ish shape. He weighs 22 pounds, and his fur feels like bunny fur. This little fellow LOVES car rides. He is currently receiving extensive medical care, including tumor removal, dental, and possible cataract surgery if the ophthalmologist - who has already seen him once - determines he is a candidate for it. (He may also have glaucoma, which would preclude cataract surgery.) Surgeon ages him at 12-14. He is very sweet. His prior owners dumped him in a kill shelter. BTW, Riley is hard of hearing but can hear claps, clicks, and metallic noises. Nonetheless, he is not at all fearfu, and proceeds to explore constantly in his new environment her, at a stately and dignified pace. He's a very beguiling guy. More on him as info develops.
