Meet Sunday!

This darling, friendly boy is a lap dog, not an athlete. Sunday was rescued from an LA kill shelter, where he had been dumped and was cowering in the back of a cage full of dogs. Now he's neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, bathed, groomed, mani-pedi-eed and thoroughly vetted (including food allergy testing, the results of which will be provided to his adopter). He's a cuddle bug, though sometimes shy at first; basically, he picks his people! If he chooses you, get ready for kisses and tummy rubs. Our vet thinks he's 4-5 years old; however, he has a chronic cough due to chronic allergic bronchitis and some permanent lung damage (as diagnosed by X-rays, ultrasound,  a "Broncho-Alveolar Lavage", and various other fancy procedures). He does NOT have heart disease, not does he have pneumonia, heartworm, lungworm, etc. I would like to find him a loving, low-exercise home that appreciates what it means to really rescue a dog who needs love. He is a GREAT dog but needs a home that will be sensitive to his condition. He's active and fun, just think of him as a kid with asthma: he needs to be in a home that will recognize if he ever needs to be rushed to an ER. I have never had to do so, but came close once or twice. I do have Prednisone here which is to be given for coughing "as needed;" he also takes a nightly prescription cough tab. He did not seem to benefit much from an expensive inhaler called the Aerodawg, which he used with Flonase. I think he'd be great in an apartment, on moderate walks with extreme snuggling. (He might even have less allergy also if not in a home with grass etc. He cannot be in a dusty environment.) He LOVES attention and even enjoys grooming. He likes other dogs though might also enjoy being a pampered only dog. He's not dominant here. Note: Sunday hates riding in the car, so he's not a good choice for a situation that requires much travel or commuting. Some people think he's got a touch of Mini-Aussie or Pomeranian; some think he's a purebred Sheltie. Whatever he is, he's a doll. Please contact nyevita@aol.com for further information. Sunday is in the Los Angeles area, so adopters from Southern California are especially encouraged to apply.
